Advance Praise for Woman Preach

In this recent book, Woman Preach, The Reverend Dr. Louis Blake Hathorn, sheds new light on the powerful role women played in the church, and in society. From Sojourner Truth to Susan B. Anthony, both 19th century preachers, women have been a source of strength, acting with the prophetic voices of social justice, to abolish slavery and bigotry and to treat women and all people with equality and the dignity they deserve.

Dr. Hathorn provides insight into the, often muted and misrepresented, leadership roles women played in the church, articulating the needs of the poor and the neglected. History shows, documented in Dr. Hathorn’s book, that it was the women of the church who called upon its leadership to answer the challenge of the Gospel in addressing those needs. Woman Preach deserves to be studied for its timeless truths.

◊ Reverend G. David Singleton, Minister, Social Justice Activist, Humanitarian. NOTE: Rev. Singleton wrote the foreword for Rev. Hathorn’s first book Social Justice and Christianity.

From the onset, one can tell Woman Preach is a labor of love left to the world by Rev. Dr. Louis B. Hathorn. His passion for his subject matter pours out on each page, and the depth of his research is impressive.

This review is from: Married to Sin (Paperback)

I bought this book three years ago and finally read it recently on the plane. It was very well written. The story telling captured my attention from beginning to end. I admire Darlene Collier for telling readers about her family and I admire Meredith C. McGee for helping Mrs. Collier tell her story. The book teaches a lot of lessons. Great book!

Starkishia: Estrella gets new Book Review

Starkishia reminds us that no matter who we are there is hope for us if we don’t give up, June 12, 2017

This review is from: Starkishia: Estrella (Paperback)

What an amazing look at what an individual can endure and still come out better on the other side.

Starkishia takes you into the life of the author, letting you feel what she experienced, read about what impacted her life at a young age and see how she was able to keep moving forward and succeeding. The author’s story will definitely inspire others to realize they are not what others say about them. They can choose to be the best of themselves and know that this is enough.

It also reminds us that everyone is worthy of love, and when you are able to find that individual or those who truly love you for you it will help to enhance your life in ways you could not have imagined.

One of those books that makes you appreciate where you are and what you have, realizing how it could all be gone tomorrow. Starkishia’s life is proof that in spite of the challenges we face there is hope for us all.
