Four Meredith Etc authors: JaNiya Williams, Loretha Wallace, Loretta Wallace Ellis, and Meredith Coleman McGee contributed their poems and or writings to Virtues from the heart, a book anthology which was released today.
The Clinton Ink-Slingers’ Writing Group of Clinton, Mississippi unveiled Virtues from the heart to a packed room at the Quinsenberry Library this morning. Book proceeds will be used for a Mississippi College writing scholarship fund.
Two of the book contributors Kamina Griffin and Callie Abraham were Clinton middle school students when they submitted their contest entries. JaNiya Williams, a fourth grader, is the youngest book contributor. She was a Pensacola Public School student when her great-grandmother Hazel Janell Meredith (author of My Brother J-Boy) submitted a section of JaNiya’s Saving the Manatees story which was published by Meredith Etc last year. Today, JaNiya, a third generation author, lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The three youth writers obtained awards, a cash prize, and a customized poem by Vicki Cagle, who is the secretary of the Clinton Ink-Slingers.
Dr. Samual Howell, Susan O’Brian, Selby Parker, Wayne Richey, Ricky Nations, Gary Lowe, Johnny Lowe, and J. Moffet Walker, who are members of the arts and or authors, were also award recipients.
“Death by Association” Vol 1 Retaliation Vol 2 Deception is a very good murder mystery; the characters were well developed. Mr. Ellis, an inmate, pulled off the detective characters like a pro. The main character Jack Webster was a gentleman. However, the detention officers were crooked. The female characters were beautiful and had dark minds. Ellis described how millions of dollars flow from the streets into prison. I commend Ellis for dreamin’ up this world, but recent news report shed a little light that some of this tale is not fake.
